New National Education Policy is in Implementation Phase
As per the recommendations of the New National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 notified, the National Curriculum Framework(NCF) has certain fundamental changes. The new NCF is scientific, need and skill based education hence “skill” being offered as a regular course. It also envisages an education system in tune with the changing scenarios and rooted to the Indian values with an aim to make Indian students global..The new school syllabus has been designed. NEP made recommendations for assessments and exams. So with this readiness Education department is rooling out its implementation from the next academic calendar 2024-25.
Based on the
new NCF for school education as already notified, the new textbooks will be
ready in 2024 for classes III to VI and classes IX and XI. In otherwords the
books will available for preparatory classes of middle school (Class VI) and entry
level of secondary school (Class IX) and higher secondary school (Class XI) for
2024-25 and for rest of the classes like Class VII, Class VIII, Class X and
Class XII the books will be ready by 2025. So the implementation of the new approach
will be completed in academic calendar year 2025-26. Smilarly the three
language formula will also be implemented from next academic year. Based on NCF’s
reccommendations from class VI to X a student will study three languages of
which two will be Indian languages and for class XI and XII there will be two
languages out of which one will be Indian language with a focus on mother
tongue and native language as a medium of instruction.
Currentlyboard
exams are being conducted at the end of class X and class XII once in a year.
Now as per the new policy these exams will be offered twice in a year which is
optional for students to consider as per their preparation and the best score
will be taken. This format will be rolled out from the 2024-25 academic year
meaning this will be adopted from 2025 board exams for class X and class XII.
This will ease the pressure on students from the stress of one exam.
